Rep. Brad Klippert recognized by Future Farmers of America

Rep. Brad Klippert was awarded an honorary degree by the Washington chapter of Future Farmers of America (FFA) at their state convention earlier this month.

“I am truly humbled by this honor and have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for Washington's farmers and ranchers,” said Klippert, R-Kennewick. “It was inspiring to be around so many young people from across the state who are committed to preserving the traditions handed down from generations of Washington farmers. Future Farmers of America is an incredible organization and I, as a former FFA member, look forward to supporting their efforts in the future.”

Klippert sponsored House Bill 2017 to create a special license plate issued by the Department of Licensing to honor Washington's farmers and ranchers. Funds raised from the purchase of the license plate would help fund education programs sponsored by Washington's chapter of the FFA. It was signed into law in April.

The FFA convention was held May 12-14, 2016 at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington.
