Representative Brad Klippert to host panel discussion on wildfires

Rep. Brad Klippert, R-Kennewick, in cooperation with Benton-Franklin Mainstream Republicans, is hosting a panel discussion regarding wildfire prevention that will feature experts in the field. He encourages members of the community to attend.

The discussion will be held from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9 at the Kennewick Library, 1620 S. Union St., Kennewick, WA.

“Wildfires have always been an issue in Washington state, however each fire season has become increasingly dangerous,” said Klippert. “My background in both the military and as an emergency first responder proves that preparation is critical in disaster situations, especially fast-moving and unpredictable wildfires. I am looking forward to hosting this important public safety discussion in our community so we can better prepare for future fires and improve prevention techniques. I hope to see the room filled with people so they can learn the facts about wildfires and make their voices heard!”

Representatives from the United States Department of Agriculture, U.S. Forest Service, Washington state departments of Natural Resources, Fish and Wildlife, and Ecology are scheduled to appear on the panel. Additionally, Washington state public employees, and a research scientist from Central Washington University will take part in the discussion.

For those wishing to comment but unable to attend, please contact his legislative office by phone at 360-786-7882 or email at

Klippert, a Benton County Sheriff's deputy and lieutenant colonel in the National Guard, is the ranking member on the House Public Safety Committee.
