Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Below is “The Week Ahead” list of bills and public hearings, to keep you informed on what is happening in Olympia and give you the opportunity to testify or offer comment on bills that could impact you and our great state of Washington. Friday is the policy committee cutoff date. That means our policy committees will be done holding public hearings on (House policy) bills; until we review the bills the Senate passes and sends over to us in the House.

Please let me know if you have any questions about any of other legislation. Please note: some of these bills I support, some I do not. I share these bills with you so you can help me support the good bills and oppose poor legislation.

  • Water Quality Determinations Public Hearing on House Bill 2472 – House Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee, (HHR) C @ 3:30 p.m.
  • ***Mandating health plans to provide coverage for the voluntary termination of pregnancies (referred to as the abortion mandate bill) – House Bill 2148Debate on the House of Representatives floor @ 10 a.m. (I am opposed to this bill. It is not about access to abortion or about choice. It is about taking away choice and mandating coverage.)

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6

  • Narrowing the Extracted Fuel Tax Exemption Public Hearing on House Bill 2465 – House Finance Committee, (HHR) A @ 8:00 a.m.
  • Tri-Cities & Port of Benton Focus on Trade Work Session – House Transportation Committee, (HHR) B @ 10:00 a.m.
  • Income Thresholds for Senior & Disabled Tax Relief Public Hearing on House Bill 1170 – House Appropriations for General Government Committee, (HHR) D @ 10:00 a.m.
  • Increase the Number of Mason Co. Superior Court Judges Public Hearing on House Bill 2131 – House Appropriations for General Government, ( HHR) D @ 10:00 a.m.
  • Economic Protections for Veterans and Military Personnel Public Hearing on House Bill 2171 – House Appropriations on General Government Committee, (HHR) D @ 10:00 a.m.
  • Increasing Opportunities for Revenue for State Parks Public Hearing on House Bill 2226 – House Appropriations Committee on General Government, (HHR) D @ 10:00 a.m.
