Klippert named ranking Republican on House Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Committee

Rep. Brad Klippert, R-Kennewick, was named the lead Republican on the House Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Committee when House Republican leadership recently unveiled their committee assignments.   “I have devoted most of my life to public safety and emergency response as a law enforcement officer, EMT/paramedic-firefighter and in military service,” Klippert said. “This is a great fit for me, and I am honored to be the lead for our caucus on this committee. I look forward to working with the chair and all members of the committee.”   Klippert will also serve on the House Judiciary, Transportation and Education Committees.   “These are not new committees to me so I will be able to hit the ground running when we get to Olympia,” Klippert said. “The judiciary issues have always been of interest to me given my ties to law enforcement and with the courts. As for transportation, we need to ensure our transportation system is providing real traffic congestion relief for businesses and families. Washington's economy depends upon a strong, well-maintained statewide transportation system and I am excited to be part of the committee that will be shaping it for the future.”   “Education is getting a lot of attention with the state Supreme Court ruling in the McCleary case. I expect a very busy House Education Committee as we fulfill the 'paramount duty' of our state constitution and ensure that each child in Washington receives a high quality education,” Klippert said.   The Legislature convenes on Monday, Jan. 14. The session is scheduled for 105 days.
